Seymour wins third Matterhorn International Pro-Am on 7th hole of playoff

CANTON, Sept. 19, 2026 – It’s tough to win a professional golf tournament.
There are no teammates to lean on for support. It’s all on the individual athlete to keep their emotions in check after a great play or rally themselves after a disappointing one.
Manchester’s Justin Seymour found himself in the final threesome at the 10th annual Matterhorn Pro-Am on Saturday, looking to become the first three-time winner of the miniature golf tournament at Matterhorn Mini Golf.
He was playing with Kyle Courcy of Lewiston, Maine, and his wife, Anna Seymour, looking to win her first professional event.
Going into the fourth and final round, Courcy had a one-stroke lead over Justin Seymour and a two-stroke lead over Anna Seymour.
At the end of the tournament, Anna Seymour finished three strokes off the pace while an aces from Courcy on the 17th hole forced a playoff with Justin Seymour. It took an additional seven holes before Justin Seymour could take home the championship – his first Matterhorn championship since winning back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.
In 2023, Justin Seymour lost in a five-hole playoff to David Vayda of Simsbury.
“My strength is playing clean,” Justin Seymour said. “You have to make your twos and hope you get a few aces to fall. It’s all about limiting your mistakes. I think I had four mistakes in 4½ rounds and that is what won it for me.”
Justin Seymour posted the tournament’s lowest round, a five-under 35 in the second round. He and Courcy finished four rounds tied at seven-under 153.
Courcy made a mistake on the seventh hole of the playoff with his first ball going into the water, costing him a stroke and opening the door for Justin Seymour, who got a two to secure the win.
Playing with his wife was challenging for Justin Seymour. “I tried to stay in the zone,” he said. “There wasn’t much talking. Obviously, I was cheering on my wife but I took it one shot at a time. I took my time and played clean.”
A week earlier, the Seymours, who celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary earlier in the week, played in a tournament in Maine and Anna beat Justin.
“I’ve actually never won a tournament so there is always this looming thing whenever we play and I have a shot at it,” Anna said. “I want it so bad and he wants it for me, too. But, at the same time, this was a tournament he was really looking forward to. He’s been talking about winning this thing for three months.
“It’s tough. I want him to do well but I also want myself to do well,” she said.

At the Matterhorn Pro-Am, Anna placed fourth for the second time in three years, matching her 2024 result. She also finishing fifth in 2018. Her fourth-place finishes are the best by a woman in tournament history.
There were 22 players in the professional tournament and after three rounds, the top 12 played in the fourth round. While there were two players from Canada, numbers of participants were down slightly because the tournament wasn’t selected to be part of the World Adventure Golf Tour as it was in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Tournament organizers hope it be selected for the world tour in 2026.

There was a three-way playoff for third place, Mark Novicki had an ace on the first playoff hole to take third with Anna Seymour finishing fourth and Vayda taking fifth. Vayda had a tournament high eight aces in four rounds of play.
In the amateur tournament, Canton’s Matt Hession had two 39s to win the two-round tournament by one stroke with a record score of 78 over Simsbury’s Jeff Pomerory on Friday evening. Tony DeDominicis of New Hartford was third with an 81.
