Avon wrestlers win John Williams Duals

VERNON, Jan. 31 – Avon (21-2, 5-0 NCCC) had little trouble in capturing the 11th annual John Williams Duals at Rockville High with a 49-24 win over the host Rams in the championship match. It was Avon’s first title in the tournament. They had finished second in 2006.

Avon handled Windham High, 50-24 and RHAM. They also beat a group of junior varsity All-Stars from the other seven teams in the tournament.

Earlier in the week, the Falcons remained undefeated in the NCCC with a 63-12 win over Enfield on Thursday night.
