AVON, May 17 – Avon’s Peter Schouw pulled away from John Drago in the final mile to win the fifth annual Avon Road Race Sunday. Schouw ran the 3.1 mile course in 16:52, beating the defending champion Drago by nine seconds. Canton’s Mary Lynn Currier was the first woman in the field, finishing fifth overall in 18:48. Two hundred and eighty runners finished the race.
