Voters in Avon approve town budgets

AVON, May 13 – Avon voters approved a $70.88 million budget for the 2009-10 fiscal year in a referendum Wednesday, 2,097 to 699. The budget increases spending by about 0.5 percent but with an anticipated decline in revenue, tax bills are expected to rise about 1.65 percent. The Board of Education budget is $43.94 million.
