AVON, Nov. 3 – The Falcons (13-2-1) closed out the 2010 season with a 3-1 win over Ellington and a 2-1 loss to undefeated league champion Suffield.
Avon won eight of its final 10 regular season games after dropping a 4-1 decision to NCCC league champion Suffield in late September. In that span, Avon has allowed just six goals, two in a overtime tie with Granby.
Avon opens play in the CIAC Class L tournament on Thursday, Nov. 11 in a second round game against either Farmington or Fairfield Warde at Fisher Meadows at 2 p.m.
Erica Primovic is Avon’s leading scorer with 21 goals in 16 games while Katie Zambrano has added 12 goals. The remainder of the scoring is distributed amongst their teammates with no player with more than six goals. Goalie Kaylan Conrad has seven shutouts.
Avon has never missed the CIAC tournament in its 27 years as a varsity program.
