
Titi Vanriel
AVON, March 16 — Southern Connecticut State University freshman Titi Vanriel earned All-New England honors and narrowly missed All-American honors in the 800 meters by taking ninth at the NCAA Division II indoor track national championship meet in New Mexico over the weekend.
Vanriel finished ninth at the NCAA Division II nationals with a time of 2:14.53, just 3/100th of a second out of eighth place and All-American status. The Avon High graduate took eighth in the recent Northeast 10 Conference meet at the 800 with a personal-best time of 2:13.67 to earn All-New England honors. She also was part of Southern’s distance medley relay take finished second with a school-record time of 11:51.52.
