MONTVILLE, July 23 – Avon’s Ian McDonald had a busy evening on Saturday. On the mound, he allowed just one hit and struck out four to help the Avon Major Division (ages 11-12) baseball All-Star team to a 11-1 win in four innings over Madison in the Section II tournament. At the plate, McDonald had a two-RBI home run and a two-run single.
With the win, Avon improves to 9-1 overall and 2-1 in the Section II tournament. Avon faces undefeated Glastonbury American (3-0) on Sunday evening.
Against Madison, Sean DelGallo had a single, double and one RBI while Kyle Emery had three singles and one RBI. Sam Leopold ripped a two-run home run while Jeremy Zarwanski added a double.
