AVON, Oct. 21 — Ranked No. 4 in the state coaches poll, the Avon field hockey team remained undefeated with a thrilling 1-0 win over No. 2 Glastonbury on Saturday. Maddy Riccardi scored for the sixth time in the last four games off an assist from Elle Crane against the Tomahawks. Goalie Nicole Andrew made 10 saves for her fifth straight shutout win. Riccardi had three goals in a 3-0 victory over Enfield. Avon is 11-0 overall and 9-0 in the NCCC.
GIRLS SOCCER: The Falcons improved to 11-1-1 with a pair of wins over Somers, 5-0 and Canton, 3-1. Leading scorer Erica Primovic (15 goals) had three goals in the win over Somers and added a goal against Canton.
VOLLEYBALL: The Falcons spikers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Enfield. Avon is 9-5 overall and 7-3 in the league.
