Raffle raises over $15,000 for FOCF

CANTON, Feb. 26 – The recent Friends of Canton Football raffle has raised over $15,000 to help fund the Canton High football and girls lacrosse programs. Friends of Canton Football raises $40,000 a year to operate the football and girls lacrosse programs at the school, paying for transportation, insurance, coaching salaries, equipment, game officials and field improvements. The club also funded and build a press box and storage facility at the football and lacrosse field near the high school in 2011.

Winners in the recent raffle were drawn at the final boys basketball game of the season. The winners were Jennifer Violette ($2,000 gift certificate to Shop Rite), Kristi Wilson ($1,000 to Home Depot), Tim Begley ($1,000 to restaurants); Taylor Gnazzo ($500 Best Buy), Chris Ronge ($500 Mobil) and Jim Davis ($500 Meat House).

The next Friends of Canton Football fundraising event will be Tuesday, May 8 at Flatbread in Canton. The restaurant will donate a portion of sales on that day to the club. The annual fundraising golf tournament is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 14, at Simsbury Farms.
