BRISTOL, July 24 – Avon will be playing close to home when they play in Bristol in Muzzy Field in the final 16, double elimination portion of Connecticut’s 2012 American Legion baseball state tournament. Avon (21-8), which won two games in the single elimination play-in portion of the tournament, will play against Zone 5 champion Oakville on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. If Avon wins, they will play Sunday at 3:30 p.m. against either Orange (20-5) or Zone 7 champion West Hartford (19-5). If Avon loses to Oakville, they’ll play the loser of the Orange and West Hartford on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Avon is in the final 16 portion of the tournament for the second straight year. Post 201 went 0-2 in its first appearance last year.
