The undefeated Avon High football team will host New Canaan on Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the quarterfinals of the CIAC Class L football tournament at 6:30 p.m. at Simsbury High. Avon won its fourth Pequot Uncas Division title in five years with a 10-0 record. They’ll be facing a New Canaan team making its eighth straight playoff appearance.
The Rams (8-2) lost in the Class L finals in 2010 and 2011 but they won four straight Class MM titles from 2006-09. New Canaan dropped its regular season finale Thursday to Darien, coughing up a 14-point lead in a 36-23 victory. It was Darien’s first win over New Canaan since 2001. More on Avon’s playoff game with New Canaan in the coming days from the Collinsville Press.
