AVON – Avon Little League invited each of its 2012 All-Star baseball teams back for All-Star recognition day on Sunday, April 28 at the Sperry Park complex.
Each of the All-Star teams was recognized and the championship banners earned by the Major Division (ages 11-12) baseball team were presented. The squad won the District 6 championship, won the Section II tournament for the first time and finished second in the state to Fairfield American. Avon won 13 straight games and finished 13-2.
Nine of the players on the team have been All-Star baseball players for three years and those nine won three District 6 titles at the Major Division (ages 11-12), Minor Division (ages 10-11) and the 9-10 Division. They won 30 games in three years and won the Section II title in the Minor Division in 2011.
With their Little League eligibility exhausted, nine of the boys continue to play baseball and are members of the CT Mission 13 and under AAU baseball team.
