LeDuc earns Academic All-American honors, too

CANTON – Michael LeDuc, a junior at Connecticut College, was named to the Capital One Academic All-American team in Division III for men’s cross country/track and field. LeDuc was named to the team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. 

LeDuc won a NCAA Division III championship in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in May by 0.08 of a second over top-seeded Jack Davies of Middlebury College. LeDuc hit the last barrier on the course but was able to regain his balance and hold off the hard-charging Davies with a school-record time of 8:50.58. 

LeDuc is majoring in botany and has been named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic team for the past six semesters (three years). 

On the track, LeDuc has earned All-American honors five times in his career. He earned All-American honors by finishing: 

  • 4th: 5,000 meters at the 2013 NCAA Div. III indoor track and field championships
  • 13th: 2012 NCAA Div. III cross country national championships
  • 4th: 3,000 steeplechase at the 2012 NCAA Div. III outdoor track championship
  • 6th: 3,000 steeplechase at the 2011 NCAA Div. III outdoor track championships.
