Booster Club to hold annual student fundraiser on Sunday

Letter A for AvonAVON — Students from Avon High will be visiting homes across town on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 1-4 p.m. as part of the annual Avon High School Booster Club ticket drive.

Esorted by parent drivers, the athletes will be dressed in blue and white to solicit donations to the club, which supports and enhances all of the athletic programs at Avon High. Last fall, student athletes collected over $11,000 in pledges from residents. A separate direct email campaign brought in another $8,000 in donations from generous residents.

“We hope that Avon residents will, once again, show their pride in Avon sports programs by supporting our campaign this year as they have so generously in the past,” said Maria Moscoli, president of the Avon High Booster Club.

The Booster Club funds a variety of initiatives including student scholarships. The club has also purchased field hockey goals, a baseball batting cage, an indoor and outdoor track timing system for the athletes. They have also funded new record boards at the high school to recognize the achievements of the athletes. The club spent $26,000 on projects to benefit students last year.

Residents interested in donating to the Avon Booster Club can do so via the club’s website, www.avonboosterclub.org or by mailing a check to the Avon Booster Club, P.O. Box 9, Avon CT 06001.
