AVON, Sept. 28 – For the second straight running back Jimmy Murphy scored three touchdowns as the Falcons won their second straight game with a dominating 42-7 victory over Nonnewaug-Woodbury in a Pequot West Division contest on Saturday. Murphy has now scored a team-leading 7 TDs this season. He had a 60-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
QB Noah Hahn threw his first touchdown passes of the season. He threw a 66-yard TD pass to Dylan Marquis in the first quarter and added a 37-yard TD play to Marquis in the third quarter. “They didn’t do anything we didn’t practice for,” Nonnewaug coach John Oko told Litchfield County Sports.com. “They just executed better and made more plays than we did.”
Avon (2-1, 2-1 Pequot West) will now be preparing for a challenging contest at undefeated Valley Regional/Old Lyme (2-0) on Friday night. The Warriors are one of the better teams in the league.

Farmington 42, Maloney 12
MERIDEN, Sept. 27 – Farmington QB Jeremy Buck tied a school record by throwing four touchdown passes as the undefeated Indians rolled to a 42-12 win over Maloney in the CCC Division II West opener for both teams on Friday night.
Buck completed 5-of-6 passes for 128 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers for Farmington (3-0, 1-0). He is the sixth quarterback in Farmington history to throw 4 TD passes in a single game. The most recent similar performance came from Brian Logan, who threw 4 TD passes in a win over Fermi in 2011.
Kenny Jones caught three passes for 69 yards and a 27-yard TD pass. Ivan Guadalupe ran for a game-high 71 yards on eight carries and caught a 17-yard TD pass from Buck. Guadalupe also pitched the ball to Chaunsey Pilgrim for his 50-yard TD run.
Farmington, which recovered three Maloney fumbles and intercepted a pass, scored 35 points in a span of 6:05 in the second quarter.

GRANBY, Sept. 27 – Granby held Hyde of New Haven scoreless for four quarters but still took the loss when Hyde’s Dwayne Hunter Parker scored from the six-yard line in overtime to lift the Howling Wolves to the win on Friday night. On Granby’s possession, Hyde forced Dom Pagano to fumble ending the game. Pagano ran for 87 yards on 20 carries for the Bears (0-3) while QB Curtis Fields completed 8-of-14 passes for 50 yards. It was the first night football game for Granby at its new athletic complex.
