CANTON – The Canton Athletics Booster Club is hoping to establish a new winter tradition in Canton after the holidays with a weekend of alumni and student events on Dec. 27-28.

Former Canton High boys and girls basketball players are invited to participate in alumni basketball games on Saturday, Dec. 28 at the high school. The women’s alumni game will tip off at 5 p.m. with the men’s alumni game at 7 p.m.

Alumni, residents and students are invited to attend an evening of Canton High varsity competition on Friday, Dec. 27.

At 4 p.m., the Warrior girls basketball team will host Hall and at 7 p.m., the Canton High boys basketball team will host East Granby to complete the doubleheader.

Alumni interested in participating in the alumni basketball games should RVSP by Friday, Dec. 13 with an email to [email protected]. Cost is $20 per player. Each player will receive a t-shirt and proceeds from the games will benefit the Canton High basketball programs. Checks can be made payable to the CABC (Canton High Athletics Booster Club).

It’s not the first alumni basketball game. In February 2010, about two dozen players who played under long-time basketball coach Bill Mudano from 1974 to 1988 staged an alumni game before a varsity game with East Windsor.
