CANTON, January 10 – Sophomore Maggie Treacy sank 5 of 6 free throws in the final two minutes of the game to help the Canton High girls basketball team hand Windsor Locks its first loss of the season Friday night, 43-37.
Canton (5-2, 3-1 NCCC) led by as many as 13 points with one minute left in the third period and had to hold off the visiting Raiders down the stretch. Windsor Locks (8-1, 6-1 NCCC) cut the lead two with 1:30 remaining.
Treacy led the Warriors, who have won four of their last five games, with a game-high 15 points. Erin Detorie added nine on three 3-point shots. For Windsor Locks, Dominique Boyd scored 12 points and Raelynn Voislow scored 10. It was the lowest scoring performance of the season so far for the Raiders.
Canton hits the road for its next two games. They travel to East Windsor on Tuesday night before going to Avon next Friday night for a big test against the Falcons.
