CIAC roundup: Avon blanks Fermi baseball

The Avon High baseball team shutout Enfield’s Fermi High, 5-0, in the first round of the CIAC Class L baseball tournament on Monday at Buckingham Field. The win gives the Falcons (15-7) a berth in the second round when they will face No. 7 Darien (15-5) today at 3:30 p.m. on the road.

GIRLS TENNIS: Avon’s NCCC champion squad advanced to the Class M quarterfinals with a 4-3 decision over RHAM at Avon Middle School Monday. No. 3 seeded Avon (18-2) faces No. 14 Sheehan-Wallingford today at 3 p.m. at Avon Middle School.
