SOUTHINGTON, March 18 — It’s going to be quite a weekend for the Canton High girls basketball program. On Saturday morning, the top-ranked Warriors play No. 3 Thomaston for the Class S championship at the Mohegan Sun Arena at 10 a.m. On Saturday evening, former Canton All-State forward Sarah Benedetti and her St. Francis Brooklyn women’s basketball teammates take on defending national champion UConn in the first round of the NCAA Division I basketball tournament at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs at 9 p.m.
John Fitts of the Canton Compass caught up the Canton High girls team at the CIAC press conference and luncheon for all of the teams playing in the state championship games and spoke with Benedetti about Canton and facing the Huskies. Read about it in the Canton Compass.
