CANTON, June 13 – After losing their first three games of the season, the Watertown Blaze is on a roll. The Blaze won their third straight game with a 5-0 Tri-State League victory over Canton at Bowdoin Field on Saturday morning. Watertown (3-3) has outscored their opponents 34-2 in the last three games with victories over Amenia, 18-1 and Tribury, 11-1.
Hard-working Canton hurler Jim Spirito (0-5) went the distance, scattering seven hits and striking out two. Catcher Chad Huff had Canton’s lone hit with one out in the seventh inning to break up the no-hit bid. Tom O’Brien, the Watertown pitcher, struck out 10.
Steve Consiglio and Matt Calzone each had doubles for the Blaze. Canton (0-6) returns to the diamond Sunday evening when they host Tribury Twisters (3-5) at 5 p.m. at Bowdoin Field. The Twisters have lost four of their last five games including the 10-run loss to Watertown.
