CROMWELL, June 25 – With nine birdies and just one bogey, two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson grabbed the opening round lead at the Travelers’ Championship Thursday at the TPR River Highlands. Watson, who earned his first PGA victory in a playoff here in Cromwell in 2010, shot an eight-under 62 to grab the lead.
Vermont’s Keegan Bradley is among a group of five golfers who are two shots back at 6-under 64. Seung-Yul Noh, Brian Stuard, Harris English and Jason Gore each shot a 64 Thursday. Another seven golfers are another shot back with opening day scores of 65.
