NEW FAIRFIELD, Sept. 19 – The Canton field hockey team picked up a point Saturday after battling to a 1-1 tie with New Fairfield from the Southwest Conference.

New Fairfield’s Sydney Colletine scored on a penalty stroke with 1:30 left in regulation to knot the game. Canton’s Emma Charron scored her team-leading third goal of the season early in the first half off an assist from Erika Neddermann.

The Warriors (2-0-1, 2-0 NCCC) won their second game on Friday in a 2-0 win over Stafford. Neddermann and Charron had goals for Canton while Grace Giancola had two assists. Natalie Nardello made seven saves to earn the shutout victory.

Veronica Allevo made 11 saves in net for Stafford (1-2).

Canton returns to action on Friday when they host Somers at 4:15 p.m. at home on the turf field.
