AVON, Oct. 27 – Olivia Jackson had a season-high three goals and goalie Ashley Clark didn’t have to make a save as the Avon High field hockey team won their 12th straight game with a 6-0 win over E.O. Smith Tuesday.

After dropping their first-ever Central Connecticut Conference game to No. 2 Glastonbury in the first game of the season, 4-0, the Falcons have given up just one goal in 12 games and have pitched 11 shutouts.

Against E.O. Smith, Annie Kuo, Paige Deppe and Rachel Spivak also scored for Avon, now 12-1 and 4-1 in the CCC South. The Falcons are ranked No. 5 in the latest state coaches poll.

Avon handed Stonington, then ranked No. 14, its first loss of the season on Saturday on a goal from Hannah Deppe – her seventh of the season. Foley made three saves to earn the shutout victory. Avon has not allowed a goal in 10 consecutive games.

Glastonbury (12-0, 5-0 CCC South) still has the inside track on winning the division championship. The Tomahawks have CCC South games remaining with Newington on Friday and Simsbury next Wednesday night under the lights at Holden Field.

Avon closes out its regular season with challenging CCC South contests against No. 3 Conard (12-1, 4-1 CCC South) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and then travels to Farmington (10-2, 3-2 CCC South) for a game under the lights at Tunxis Meade on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

The Falcons cracked the top 10 in the state coaches poll for the first time last week, debuting at No. 9. They were ranked as high as No. 4 last season when they advanced to the Class M semifinals.
