COVENTRY, Jan. 20 – The Canton High wrestling team received had five pins as they earned their fifth win of the season on Wednesday night with a 51-12 victory over Coventry in NCCC action.
Donovan Mackin (106), Brendan Kelly (113), Brian Connolly (120), Julian Adams (160) and Joe Bowman (170) won by pin for the Warriors, now 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the NCCC for first-year coach Josh Bristol. James Pelhach (195) earned a 7-3 decision at 195 pounds.
The Warriors hit the mat again on Wednesday when they take on Notre Dame-Fairfield for the first time. Canton was scheduled to wrestle against Darien and Oxford on Saturday but that match was cancelled due to the forecast for snow in the state.
