Canton wrestlers finish campaign with five wins

CANTON, Feb. 10 – The Canton High wrestling team dropped three matches on Saturday to finish the regular season with five victories. The Warriors were supposed to wrestle Enfield on Wednesday night but the match was cancelled due to an early dismissal at Enfield High.

On the weekend, the Warriors (5-10, 3-4 NCCC) lost to host Derby, 48-36, Morgan, 72-12 and a close match to Griswold, 42-39.

The match against the Wolverines was the most competitive with Canton winning three matches by pin and Julian Adams (160) outlasting Griswold’s Noah Berghinzo, 13-9. Brian Connolly (113), Hayden DiMaio (132) and James Pelehach (182) earned pins for Canton.

However, Canton was hurt by giving up four forfeits, worth 24 points to the Wolverines.

Canton returns to action Saturday when they compete at the NCCC Tournament championships on Saturday at Somers High School.
