GREENWICH, Feb. 27 – Avon High made its debut in the Class LL girls basketball tournament Saturday but No. 10 Greenwich was too overpowering as the Falcons were sent home after a 74-55 defeat.
Senior Abby Laszewski had a team-high 18 points to lead the No. 23 Falcons (10-11) while Alex Benedict added 17 points. Kaleigh Sherman scored 15 but it wasn’t enough against the Cardinals, who led by 10 after one quarter.
Greenwich (16-4) received balanced scoring, led by Abby Wolf with a game-high 23 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks. Emily Anderson added 20 points and pulled down five rebounds.
