CANTON, April 12 – John Solomon and Dustin Van Kirk each won three events to lead the undefeated Canton High boys track and field team to three victories Tuesday over former conference rival Avon, 94-55, Granby and Hartford’s Sport Science Medical Academy.

Solomon swept the 100 meters, 300 hurdles and high jump while Van Kirk captured the long jump, triple jump and 110 hurdles. Cameron Neeley won the 800 meters for the Warriors (5-0, 4-0 NCCC) while Stephen Oliver won the pole vault. Canton extended its school record dual meet winning streak to 70. The Warriors haven’t lost a dual meet since the final event of the 2010 campaign.

Stephen Oliver (pole vault) also won for Canton, which beat Avon for the sixth straight year. This is Avon’s first year in the Central Connecticut Conference.

Geoff Kirk won three events for Avon (2-1), sweeping the shot put, discus and javelin. Kirk’s throw of 149 feet, six inches in the discus was the second-longest in school history. Avon’s Charles Morse threw 159 feet, 10 inches in the discus against Northwest Catholic in 1972.
