MANCHESTER, N.H., April 20 – Centerfielder David Dahl, third baseman Pat Valaika, left fielder Rosell Herrera, right fielder Dillon Thomas and first baseman Correlle Prime each had two hits as the Hartford Yard Goats became the first Eastern League team to reach 10 wins with a 9-2 thumping of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Wednesday afternoon before more than 7,000 fans.
The Yard Goats (10-4) had 13 hits in the victory including four doubles and two home runs from Dahl – his league-leading sixth of the season – and Herrera – his first of the year and his first at the Class AA level. Thomas had two hits and three RBI.
On the mound, German Marquez pitched five innings and struck out six to earn the win. Devin Burke, who grew up in Darien, pitched four innings of shutout relief, striking out three to earn his first Eastern League save.
Hartford returns to the diamond on Friday traveling to Portland, Maine for a four-game series with the Sea Dogs beginning at 6 p.m.
