CANTON – For the first time this year, the Canton High girls lacrosse team got votes in the state coaches top 10 poll.
The Warriors, who went 18-3 and won their first Class S championship, finished ranked No. 11 in the final poll of the season with 10 votes. The only top 10 team Canton played this year was No. 3 Fairfield Warde and the Mustangs handed Canton their first loss of the season, 10-6 in late April.
Darien, who won the Class L championship for the fourth consecutive season, was ranked the top team in the state and received all 12 first place votes. Dariel also finished No. 6 in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine national poll. The Blue Wave was the only Connecticut team in the national top 25 poll.
