CANTON — The Cheerios No. 3 Chevrolet NASCAR show car will be making a pit stop at the ShopRites of Canton and West Hartford on Saturday, August 27.

In partnership with car sponsor General Mills, Joseph Family Markets is hosting the car to bring greater visibility to the local fight against hunger and support their annual ShopRite Partners In Caring fundraising campaign.

The Cheerios car will be at the Canton ShopRite (The Shoppes of Farmington Valley) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be in West Hartford at the ShopRite (46 Kane Street) from 3-6 p.m. Each store will host Cheerios-themed activities and offer photo opportunities with the vehicle. The events are free and open to the public.

Austin Dillon drives the No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series. Childress brought the No. 3 car back in 2014 – its first appearance in the 2001 Daytona 500, the final race for seven-time Cup champion Dale Earnhardt. Dillon has nine top 10 finishes this season.

Throughout the month of September, ShopRite associates collect donations at check-out and hold various events to raise funds for local food banks in the communities they serve. Last year, the two stores, which are owned and operated by Chuck and Debbie Joseph, raised $30,754. The two stores have contributed over $151,700 to the local fight against hunger since 2010.

Since 2009, the Collinsville Press has been providing award-winning coverage of sports and news in the Farmington Valley and across Connecticut.
