AVON, Sept. 16 – Junior Maddy Hart had eight kills and four aces serving as the Avon High volleyball team remained undefeated with a 3-0 win over Fitch-Groton in the home opener for the Falcons on Friday.
Avon (3-0, 0-0 CCC Central White) handed Fitch (3-1) their first loss of the season, 25-18, 25-19, 25-21. Junior Grace Stevens had seven kills for the Falcons while senior Erin Sutter had five kills and seven blocks. Junior Audrey Worth had 21 assists for Avon.
The Falcons opened the season with a 3-1 win over Hall-West Hartford (25-13, 16-25, 25-18, 25-21) with junior Sophia Bervio leading the way with 12 kills and Worth getting 26 assists. Sutter had seven kills and four blocks.
Earlier this week, Avon won their second match with a 3-1 win over East Catholic in Manchester. The Eagles took game one, 26-24 before Avon won the next three, 25-22, 25-13 and 25-10. Hart had 11 kills for the Falcons while junior Victoria Abdelmalek had eight kills and four blocks. Worth had 27 assists for Avon.
The Falcons return to the floor on Monday with a match at Northwest Catholic in West Hartford at 5 p.m. Avon will host Bristol Eastern on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the high school.
