COVENTRY, Sept. 17 – Lewis Mills’ Trevor Baker became just the third quarterback in school history to throw four touchdown passes in a single game to lead the Spartans to a 34-21 Pequot Conference decision over Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton Saturday.

Baker completed 13 of 25 passes for a career-high 220 yards and four touchdowns against the Patriots. He joins Lucas Lanning and Zach Milbourne (twice) with four TD passes in a single game.

Mills led 12-0 at the half on TD passes from Baker to Jim Romano (11 yards) and Chris Romano (50 yards). The Spartans (1-1, 0-1 Pequot West) extended the lead to 20-0 in the third quarter on a 35-yard run from Hunter Cowger and a two-point conversion run from Baker.

A 46-yard touchdown pass to Jim Romano in the third quarter and a 21-yard TD pass to Chris Romano early in the fourth quarter gave Mills a 34-7 lead.

Darren St. Pierre led Mills with six tackles while Nate Arnone and Ian Dunn had five each.

Baker’s previous career-high in yards passing was 218 yards a year ago against in Granby. Milbourne had four TD passes against Wolcott Tech and Nonnewaug in 2010, the first varsity season for Mills. Lanning had four TD passes in 2013 against SMSA/University.

Mills will host Canton on Saturday at 1 p.m., at the high school in Burlington. Mills played their season opener against Gilbert/Northwestern earlier this month at Muzzy Field in Bristol.
