CANTON – A 3.1 mile road race and fun run to benefit the Stand Up to Cancer organization will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, beginning at 9 a.m. on the Farmington River Trail near the Crown and Hammer restaurant.

The Stand Up 2 Cancer organization awards grants to multi-institutional groups of scientists who work collaboratively, rather than competitively, to develop new treatments for cancer quickly in order to save lives now.

The race is being organized by Canton resident Colin O’Brien, who is part of the team that organizes the O’Briley Thanksgiving morning road race in Collinsville that benefits local charities.

The fun run for kids begins at 8:45 a.m. with the road race beginning at 9 a.m. Race registration is $20 but all registration money is being donated to Stand Up 2 Cancer. Runners will receive a complimentary water bottle and trophies are being donated by Mr. Trophy.

Get your registration in advance by sending a check made payable to Colin O’Brien to 29 Westwood Drive in Canton, 06019. Registration will also be accepted on the morning of the race.
