WINSTED, January 30 – Freshman Jack Rose had a career-high 16 points and sank four three-point goals as the Canton High boys basketball team rolled to an easy 86-29 non-league victory over The Gilbert School on Monday night.
Freshman teammate Chris Tenczar had a career-high 10 points for the Warriors, now 11-2, who raced out to a 22-2 lead after one quarter and a 44-11 lead at halftime. Senior Ethan Burke had 12 points for Canton while Ryan Enns added eight points.
Thirteen different players scored for Canton, which scored the most points since putting 88 points on the scoreboard against Portland in an 88-37 victory in February 2009.
Gilbert (1-11) was led by senior Steve Marshall with nine points while Jake Royer and Juan Samiento each had seven points.

The 57-point victory by the Warriors was the second largest win by Canton in its basketball history dating back to 1921. The biggest win was a 66-point margin of victory over Bacon Academy in 1955 with a 91-25 decision.
The Warriors return to the hardwood on Wednesday night when they travel to Ellington (3-9) for a 7 p.m. start. Canton returns home on Friday night when they host Windsor Locks (8-5). The Raiders handed Canton its second loss of the season last week with a 47-38 victory.
