WEST HARTFORD, May 11 – The Canton High girls lacrosse team enjoys a challenge. They got it on Thursday against Hall High in West Hartford.
Freshman Abby Charron scored the game-winner with three seconds left in overtime to lift the defending Class S champion Warriors to an 11-10 victory in OT over Hall. Senior Grace Giancola scored a game-high seven goals and had three assists for Canton (10-1) while Anna Holland added a goal.
Courtney LaFave made seven saves in net to secure the victory.
It was a nip and tuck affair throughout the contest. The biggest lead was two goals by Hall – twice in the first half. Each time, Giancola scored a pair of unanswered goals to tie the game.

Hall (7-6) took a 7-6 lead at halftime on a goal from Caroline Grant with 22.1 seconds left in the first half. Hall tied the game at 10-10 with 2:41 left in regulation on a goal from Natalie Nordyke.
Canton will be tested again on Saturday when they travel to Fairfield to take on Fairfield Warde at 1 p.m. The Mustangs (10-3) are currently ranked No. 10 in the latest state high school coaches poll. Warde lost to No. 1 Darien on Thursday, 18-5.
