Darien remains unanimous No. 1 in weekly state girls lacrosse poll

For the third consecutive week, Darien (10-1) remains the unanimous selection at the top ranked team in the state coaches weekly top 10 girls lacrosse poll.

The Blue Wave, who were ranked No. 2 in the nation in the most recent U.S. Lacrosse National Top 25 poll, dropped their first game of the season to Manhassett, N.Y., last Thursday, 13-12 on a goal with 30 seconds remaining. Manhasset was ranked No. 3 in the country.

Darien, who has won 98 consecutive matches against Connecticut teams, got back on the winning track with an 13-6 win over No. 2 New Canaan with six unanswered goals in the final 8:56 of the contest.

The top four teams and seven of the top 10 teams in the poll are from the FCIAC.
