TORRINGTON, August 4 – Rain has forced adjustments to Connecticut’s AABC Stan Musial state baseball championship tournament.
Connecticut needs to know their two qualifiers for the AABC’s (American Athletic Baseball Congress) Northeast World Series in Braintree, Mass., on August 9-12.

The second bid will come from the winner of Sunday’s game between Tri-State League rivals Naugatuck Dogs and Waterbury’s Blasius Chevrolet at 3 p.m. at Fuessenich Park in Torrington. Not only does the winner earn a berth in the World Series but they will advance to the state final.
Connecticut’s Stan Musial title game will be played at a later date.

Trailing by three runs, 5-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning, Naugatuck’s Brendan Slattery hit a solo home run to cut the lead to two runs. With the bases loaded and no outs, Naugatuck’s Devin Murphy won the game with a grand slam home run.
The Dogs have won three straight elimination games after falling in the first round of the Stan Musial tournament to the Danbury Pirates
Blasius (17-7) earned a spot in the consolation final with a 6-1 win over Danbury with pitchers Dan Hedden and Ty Morin combining to give up just one run. Brian Parzyc had a two-run double for Blasius, which has won two straight after dropping their first game of the tournament.
