Terryville earns spot in regional World Series; second bid to be decided Sunday

TORRINGTON, August 4 – Rain has forced adjustments to Connecticut’s AABC Stan Musial state baseball championship tournament.

Connecticut needs to know their two qualifiers for the AABC’s (American Athletic Baseball Congress) Northeast World Series in Braintree, Mass., on August 9-12.

The second bid will come from the winner of Sunday’s game between Tri-State League rivals Naugatuck Dogs and Waterbury’s Blasius Chevrolet at 3 p.m. at Fuessenich Park in Torrington. Not only does the winner earn a berth in the World Series but they will advance to the state final.

Connecticut’s Stan Musial title game will be played at a later date.

With the bases loaded and no outs, Naugatuck’s Devin Murphy won the game with a grand slam home run.
