New Canaan is No. 1 in preseason top 10 football poll

NEW HAVEN, Sept. 5 – New Canaan received 15 first place votes to earn the top spot in the New Haven Register’s preseason top 10 football poll as determined by state sportswriters. Six teams earned No. 1 votes but New Canaan (9-3 a year ago) was the top team with 15 first place votes.

Four of the top six teams were from the FCIAC while two top 10 teams were from the Central Connecticut Conference. Simsbury (7-3) will face No. 8 East Hartford (9-2) this fall along with No. 13 Southington (8-2).
