FARMINGTON, September 7 – Jake Baker’s 98-yard kickoff return gave visiting Platt High the lead for good as the visiting Panthers beat the Farmington High football team Thursday night in the rain, 27-7 in a CCC Division II contest.
Farmington (0-1) led 7-6 at halftime on a one-yard run by Zihare Greaves but Platt (1-0) scored 27 unanswered points to take command. Sophomore Roberto Salas had great opening day for Platt, running for a touchdown and 200 yards on 19 carries.
It was the fourth straight opening day loss for the Indians, who last won in their opener in 2013 when they beat Simsbury. Platt leads the series between the two teams that began in 1983 by an 11-0 margin.
