GRANBY, Sept. 21 – Quarterback Jackson Rome ran for a team-high 98 yards and one touchdown and threw a touchdown pass as the Granby Memorial football team won their second straight game with a 26-0 shutout over Old Saybrook/Westbrook in a Pequot Conference contest Friday night.
Granby (2-1) took the early lead on a 43-yard touchdown run from Rome and the extra point from Matt Zydorf. The Bears extended the lead to 13-0 on an 11-yard TD pass from Rome to Dylan Disabella in the second quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears scored twice on a two-yard run from Garrett Strain and a 68-yard touchdown run from Keon Lawrence, who finished the game with six tackles. Conor Hogan had nine tackles and a sack for the Bears while Tyler Perez had eight stops and forced a fumble. Strain had eight tackles with Ben Kibby getting seven tackles and recovering a fumble. Disabella also had six tackles.
The Bears took for their third straight win next week when they travel to Ellington on Saturday at 1 p.m.

WINDSOR, Sept. 21 – Windsor High picked up their first win of the season by shutting out Farmington, 41-0 in CCC Division II East action Friday night.
Dan Elliott ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries to lead the Warriors (2-1). He also caught an 18-yard TD reception from QB Cortenay Jackson (9-14-0, 205). Jackson also had a 43-yard TD reception to Kenneth Gordon.
Farmington (1-2) hosts Bristol Eastern next Saturday at 2 p.m. at the high school.
