Quick start lifts Simsbury to second straight win; Granby falls to Rockville

ENFIELD, Oct. 26 – The Simsbury High football team took care of business quickly Friday night to earn their second straight win. The Trojans raced out to a 28-point lead and earned their second victory of the season with a 35-12 win over Enfield.

Quarterback Jackson Butler completed 12-of-23 passes for 232 yards and a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Trojans (2-5). He also ran for 73 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Mark Bedson led Simsbury on the ground with 87 yards on 17 carries.

Jeffrey Coleman caught five passes for 97 yards and a touchdown for Simsbury while Jackson Harper (3-65) and Colby Chase (3-62) each caught three passes. It was Simsbury’s eighth straight win over Enfield. The last time that the Eagles beat Simsbury was in 1978. The series between the two teams began in 1921.

It was the final road game of the season for Simsbury, which hosts Manchester on Friday at 7 p.m. at Holden Field.

Rockville 28, Granby 6
VERNON, October 26 – Rockville scored 28 unanswered points to beat Granby on Friday night, 28-6 and improve to 5-2 on the season. Nick Foley ran for three touchdowns for the Rams (5-2, 5-1 Pequot Uncas) while QB Ben Ambro completed 14-of-24 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown.

Matt Zyzdorf hit a pair of field goals for the Bears (4-3, 3-2 Pequot Uncas) while Sam Attianese rushed for 26 yards on 10 carries.

Dylan Disabella had nine tackles including a tackle for a loss to lead the Bears while Tyler Perez made eight tackles. Andel Smith and Attianese each had seven tackles while Attianese also had an interception. Conor Hogan made five stops and had a sack while Ben Kibby had four tackles and a sack.

The Bears return to action on Friday night when they host Gilbert/Northwestern (4-3) at 7 p.m. in another Pequot Uncas Division contest.
