Ellington bounces Canton out of NCCC Tournament

ELLINGTON, February 25 –Collin Garrow scored a game-high 17 points while Anthony Beasley added 16 to lead the Ellington High boys basketball team to a 56-41 win over Canton in the quarterfinals of the NCCC Tournament on Monday.

The Purple Knights advance to Wednesday night’s semifinal where they will challenge league champion Hartford Classical, the top seed in the tournament that went undefeated in the league this season (16-0).

Canton (14-8) was led by Grant Lange with 19 points while Jack Rose added 10 points and Matthew Rose chipped in with nine.

The Warriors will return to the floor on Monday, March 4 when they host No. 22 Lewis Mills (9-11) at 7 p.m. in the first round of the CIAC’s Division IV tournament. Canton earned the No. 11 seed.

If Canton wins, they will play either Ellington or Woodland Regional in the second round on March 6.
