Twelve runners from Avon and Canton complete Boston Marathon

BOSTON, April 15 – Ten runners from Avon and two from Canton completed the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Joseph Zavalishin was the fastest runner from Avon with a time of 3:11.25, nearly two minutes better than his time of 3:13 a year ago in chilly rain. He was one of three Avon men to finish the 26.2 mile race.

Seven women from Avon completed the marathon with Charity Smith, 40, posting a time of 3:40.00.

Canton’s Patrick Stiegman, 53, was the first of two Canton runners to complete the race.

Former Avon resident Jon Rosow,  26, who now lives in the Weatogue section of Simsbury, finished the race with a time of 2:56.22.

The top runners from Farmington were Unionville’s Adam Gootnick, 33, who finished 451st with a time of 2:41.46 and Unionville’s Tracy Deeter, 40, who finished with a time of 3:11.19. Deeter was 498 among the women in the race.
