As the regular season winds down and with the post-season just around the corner, Darien (13-2, 10-0 FCIAC East) remains the No. 1 team in the state coaches poll. The Blue Wave have won four in a row and close out the regular season with their sixth out-of-state game on Wednesday when they host Longmeadow, Mass.
New Canaan (12-3, 8-1 FCIAC East) remains at No. 2 following a third straight win over Greenwich on the weekend, 10-2. Wilton (10-5, 6-3 FCIAC East) comes in at No. 3 with Staples (13-2, 10-0 FCIAC West) at No. 4.
As it has been all season, seven of the top 10 teams in the poll are from the FCIAC. The FCIAC tournament begins Thursday with quarterfinal action. Semifinals are on Monday, May 20 with the league championship game on May 22 at Norwalk.
New Fairfield (14-0, 11-0 SWC), the only undefeated team left in the state, moved up one spot to No. 9 following a 13-7 win over Pomperaug and a 17-6 win over Canton on Saturday. Like the FCIAC, the SWC has quarterfinals on Thursday, semifinals on May 20 and the title game on May 22.
