Hahn, Cuddeback find success on the collegiate links

AVON — Two former Avon High golfers found success in college this spring.

Freshman Tyler Hahn helped the Bryant College men’s golf team finish second in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while freshman Sam Cuddeback was the team rookie of the year with Hobart College.

Hahn earned a spot in the starting lineup at Bryant and competed in each tournament this spring. He had the second-lowest average on the team going into the NEC championship in Florida where Bryant finished second. He shot rounds of 78, 77, and 82 at the NEC championships.

One of his highlights of the spring campaign was a fourth place finish at the Towson Invitational in Grasonville, Maryland. He had a 70 on day one and finished with a 76 on day two at Prospect Bay Country Club.

At Hobart, Cuddeback was fourth on the team in scoring average after competing in 14 rounds. He was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week after tying for 12th place in his first collegiate tournament, shooting a 78 at Pitt-Bradford.

The following weekend in the St. John Fisher Invitational, Cuddeback carded a season’s best 77 in the second round and tied for 15th place. He tied for third place in the Myrtle Beach Tournament and was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week.

Hobart finished seventh in the Liberty League Championship. The Statesmen posted their best tournament finishes of the season in the Nazareth Fall Invitational and the Myrtle Beach Tournament, taking third in both events.
