FARMINGTON, October 8 – The Avon High boys and girls cross country teams completed the dual meet portion of the 2019 campaign with resounding victories over arch-rival Farmington at Winding Trails on Tuesday.
The boys team beat Farmington, 21-37, to finish the year 2-5 overall and 2-5 in the CCC West while the girls team downed the Indians, 21-36, to finish the season 3-4 overall and in the CCC West.
Anish Rajamanickham won the meet with a time of 17:19 over the 3.1 mile course – his third straight dual meet win against Farmington. Teammate Hari Patchigolla finished second with a personal-best time of 17:25.
Personal-best times were also turned in by Avon’s David Parry (5, 17:34), Mason Bussiere (6, 17:42), Tej Roman (7, 17:45), Johnny Gervais (9, 17:58) and Nick Bailey (10, 17:59). Rodrigo Portal (17:49) finished eighth for the Falcons.
In the girls race, Avon’s Rhiannon Richmond earned her first dual meet win of the season with a winning time of 18:53 over the 3.1 mile course at Winding Trails. She was followed by Gabrielle Richmond (3, 20:09), Mareen Ek (4, 20:24), Logan Jacobs (6, 21:17), Sarah Lancaster (7, 21:18), Autumn Wolf (10, 22:56) and Bryneth Chang (11, 23:05).
The Falcons return to action on Saturday at the Wickham Park Invitational in Manchester.
