Canton boys finish fifth in Division III golf championships

HARWINTON, June 7, 2022 – Matt Schuman had an 82 to lead the Canton High boys golf team to a fifth place finish at the CIAC Division III boys golf championship meet at Fairview Farms in Harwinton.

Portland won a second straight CIAC Division III title with a 15-stroke win over St. Paul, 310-325. The Warriors finished with a team score of 343. Schuman and Artie Hayes each had one birdie in the tournament while teammate Jonah Hurley had a pair of birdies.

It was Canton’s first top five finish since 2015 when the Warriors were second in the CIAC Division IV meet.
