SIMSBURY, Oct. 4, 2022 – Lewis Mills’ Aidan Carrano shot a second-round 37 to force a tie but Conard’s Will Gregware won in a sudden-death playoff to win the Avon Invitational Tuesday in a boys golf tournament at the Hopmeadow Country Country Club.
In cold and windy conditions, Carrano’s 37 gave him an 18-hole score of 73 along with Gregware, who had a tournament-low 34 in the opening round and a second round 39. Conard’s Camden Rancourt was two shots back in third place with a two-round total of 75.
With three golfers in the top four, Conard easily won the tournament with a 25-shot advantage over Glastonbury, 311-336. Farmington was fourth with Simsbury tying for seventh place, Lewis Mills finishing ninth and host Avon in 11th place in the field of 16 teams.
