
Abbie Ives made 31 saves on Sunday to lift the Connecticut Whale to a 4-1 win over Toronto in PHF action.
TORONTO, Jan. 22, 2023 – A day after giving up a season-high seven goals, the Connecticut Whale tightened things up defensively in a 4-1 win over the Toronto Six Sunday in Premier Hockey Federation action.
Whale goalie Abbie Ives, who was lifted after giving up five goals on Saturday against the Six, made 31 saves to earn her fifth win of the season.
Leading scorer Kennedy Marchment had two goals, including a short-handed breakaway goal in the third period to put Connecticut (7-6-1) up by a 4-0 score. The reigning league MVP now has 14 goals on the year for the Whale. Caitlin Lonergan had a goal and an assist while defenseman Shannon Turner had two assists for Connecticut.
