
Avon’s Giana Godbout (12) had a team-high 13 points in Tuesday’s loss to Glastonbury.
AVON, January 3, 2023 – Giana Godbout had a team-high 13 points and three 3-point goals but Glastonbury shut down the Avon High girls basketball team in the second and third quarters and beat the Falcons, 40-31 on Tuesday night in Central Connecticut Conference play.
The Guardians (6-2) gave up just 10 points in the second and third period as they won their sixth straight game behind 16 points from Mandy Handrahan.
Adi Standish scored 11 points for Avon (4-2), which gets back to the hardwood on Friday when they host Hartford Public beginning at 5 p.m.

SIMSBURY, Jan. 3, 2023 – No. 11 Simsbury won their third straight game on Tuesday night with a 56-41 win over Farmington at home. The Trojans (5-1) return to action on Thursday when they travel to Southington to face the Blue Knights beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Lewis Mills 41, Maloney 39
BURLINGTON, Jan. 3, 2023 – The Lewis Mills boys basketball team used a great defensive effort to hand Maloney their first loss of the season on Tuesday in a 41-39 victory in CCC South action.
Connor McAtee had 17 points to lead Mills, which has won three straight games. Jon Schibi added 14 for the Spartans, who are now 4-1 and 1-0 in the CCC South.
Mills returns to action on Friday when host Simsbury at 6:45 p.m. On Tuesday night, Simsbury (4-2) was held to seven points in the second half in a 41-31 loss to Farmington, which is also 4-2.
